Deportation back to Mexico The United States experiences a large number of migration every year. A big reason for that happening, is because the idea of the American dream is enlarging. For some people, traveling to the US means following their dream or talent, for others it means surviving economicly. In this case, mostly Mexicans. This kind of immigration is done illegally. That means that the government haven’t given the permission for a person to enter the United states or stay beyond the termination date of a visa. Mexico is the country that represents the biggest source of immigration to the United States. Since 1980 the mecican immigrants have outsized more than anu ohter population group. It is perhaps due to its good location, witch makes it possible for a mexican to immigrate to America by feet. In 2008 Mecican reached a total number of 11.4 million, but over half of the immigrants resides in the country illegally. Pros and cons of illegal immigrations Mario Garibaldi wrote the article Illegal Immigration: Pros & Cons and posted it Monday, May 08, 2006. Mario has a legal immigrant backround himself , but found it very challenging to to write about this subject. Some of the pros he includes in the article is how illegal immigration ”helps keep the economy moving by filling low-wage jobs,” and ”Illegal immigrants pay sales taxes.” Theese topics have been discussed alot. They are true though. There are economical benefits like cheap labor taxpayers pay the infrastructural cost, also property owner who are illegal have to pay real estate taxes. Theres also alot of pros for the workers in the United States. For example an American farmer. He wil be able to plant and harvest much less expensively. Another pro is for the amereican renters. Millions of Mexican immigrants are more than happy to rent a property in a depressed area, and it is usually hard to find renters for theese areas. Of course theres also alot of cons in illegal immigration. In Mario Garibaldi’s article, he wrote alot more cons that pros. That’s because he did not only take hes own viewpoint on that; He took the viewpoint of sociaty too. Illigal immigration has disadvantages not only for Americans but also the immigrants themselves. ”They risk death when traveling the desert to reach the borders.” Of course it’s not easy. Its a long journey that requires that you are physically able and willing to risk being jailed, bitten by dogs og even beaten by the guards at the border fence. Economically there is also alot of cons. ”Millions of U.S. dollars sent outside the country,” and ”Continued growth of the demand for cheap labor and low wages.” All of theese things can be a threat to the future balance of the American economic. But the economic is not the only thing worrying the gorverment. Mexican immigration is a threat to the American culture as well. There is already a big Monopolization of the Spanish language in different areas. This can later on lead to bigger problems as Unbalanced ethnic diversity. The article of Mario Garibaldi also places alot of emphasis on how the immigrants Increase the road traffic and usage, injurious or fatal accidents and interstate human trafficking. SummaryFor alot of mexicans, traveling to the US means a better life og survival for themselves or their family. The reason why they do it illegally is because they cant afford the legal way. It’s not because they are criminals and they know they’re doing something against the law. After reading Mario Garibaldi’s analyse of the immigrants, I now understand theyre viewpoint of they’re illegal act. ”From their point of view, a visa is just a stamp on a piece of paper which can be ignored in exchange for a better life.” Obviously, This is not the right way of looking at it because it law they are dealing with, so they do not really have the right to act out of their belives, But i think that this just shows the desperate situation they are in. Taking the risk of being jailed, bitten by dogs and beaten, and still trying to start their lifes all over again in an foreign country, is like a silent call for help. So in this case its a question about what matters the most- legality and human compassion. And with the law being so strict about visas, and the long wait for it, it is almost easier to enter the country illegally. Of course the negative part is that the immigrants that are able to cross the border, inspire those left behind to do the same. That is not good because in som cases it is tennagers and children sent from their parents. I think that in this case we have to think humanistic. We’re are dealing with actual living people and not just numbers on a graph- But that dosent mean that the illegal act should be seen as a positive thing or be encouraged. I just think that ’help’ should be easier getting so it dosent force people into doing something against the law out of pure desperation.Sources:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illegal_immigration_to_the_United_States http://www.migrationinformation.org/Feature/display.cfm?ID=208http://mario-garibaldi.wrytestuff.com/swa61485.htm http://www.migrationinformation.org/usfocus/display.cfm?id=767
