Demonstration is when people do street struggles or violence because they are dissatisfied with something in their country, either with social and political opinions and so on.
The article “Wall Street Protest Begins, With Demonstrators Blocked” is about some protesters who had planned to descend on Wall Street on a Saturday and occupy parts of it because of rage over a financial system that they think favors the rich and powerful at the expense of general citizens. The protesters have discussed the day on Twitter and other social media it is a public place and therefore knew the police that it would happen. That is the reason why the police made barricades around the blocks of Wall Street. That is the day which the protest’s call “September 17”, and others call it “the United States Day of Rage”.
It is difficult for me to comment because I am missing the necessary background knowledge but I will try as best as I can.
I think there are both good and bad things with demonstration. Demonstration is bad because it implies to street struggles and violence against innocent people. On the other side it is unfair that a line cock from Columbus said “There are millions of people in this country without jobs, and 1 percent of the people have 99 percent of the money”. It is an example of how much inequality there is in New York, and that is why I understand the choices that the protests make. I think there is too much inequality and it is disrespectful to the unemployed and poor people. It does not make a country “happy”. I really do not understand how the rich people can do it against their fellows that they walk on the street or drive on the road in their big and expensive cars and look at their fellows who sleep on the street because of the rich people’s own greed. Which does not mean that it is only the rich people’s responsibility but I think the government have responsibility to help poor people, they obviously also feel blame for their living standards.
