I do not think I am the only one to believe that eating disorders are a very big problem in our World these Days. I believe that almost everyone knows what it is about, when you say “anorexia” Or “bulimia”. What I do not believe is that everybody gets that it is way more, than just not getting food in your stomach. A lot of people do not understand what is under the surface, which is understandable when they have not gone through it, but it is hard to be the one no one understands.
I myself have had an experience with eating disorders where I learned so much. She was a member of my family and got anorexia when she was just 10 years old. It broke my heart to know a beautiful little girl already in her child years, felt like she had to live up to some beauty standard and almost hungered herself to death. I talked a lot to her about her thoughts when she recovered, she told me the hardest thing was that no one understood. Everyone just told her to eat what was served. She told me it was not because she did not want to eat, it was just very difficult. She felt guilty everytime she ate, but she also felt guilty for her family because she could not eat, and discripte it like she was stuck in the middle. She felt like she was a load to everyone, it made sense when I found out she did not ever got told from a single person “I understand”.
