This text is about what problems there can be when you live in another country, where they have another religion. Amina is from Pakistan and is a Muslim, but in school they have another religion. The problem is that she isn’t aloud to draw pictures of Mary and Jesus, but she has to in school on her drawing. On one side she has her family and religion and on the other there is the school, which has other values then the parents. She has to be on both sides, and if she isn’t she will for sour gets troubles. She has to do what the school tells her, and she has to do what her parents are teaching her, about her religion because it is so important to them. I think that the problem is that her parents, sees very hard on their religion and she has to live with both cultures. Aminas parents are working a lot, and don’t spend a lot of time with Amina. “Her mother came into the room for a rest before serving in the shop for another three hours till nine o’clock.” (S.2 l.39-40) This is showing that they work a lot, and only is in the apartment a moment at the time. They really don’t have the time for her, and she spends a lot of time on her own. It isn’t good for a little girl, and her parents can’t teach her good enough about her religion. This is also a problem, she doesn’t now enough so she gets problems because she does now which thing she isn’t aloud to. As before, is Amina from Pakistan and she is a Muslim. She was born in England, but her background makes her a second-generation immigrant. Her situation is that she can’t draw what the school tells her to do, because she isn’t aloud because of her religion. So she is in a problem that many young immigrants are. Amina has to have two identities, one when she is at home, with her parents and one when she is at school. She has to learn some stuff and do something that she isn’t aloud because of her religion. She has to because it isn’t a Muslim school, so they learn about other things. So Amina is split in two, to make everybody
