The Golden Gate bridge is very special in San Fransisco. Many tourist travel to San Fransisco to see the Golden Gate bridge, and alots of other stuff.

It is located in San Fransisco, California and Marin County, California.

The bridge connects San Fransisco Peninsula with Marin County, and crosses Golden Gate sea.

Joseph Strauss, Iriving Morrow, and Charles Ellis were the designers of

the bridge. The bridge was made of steel and has the total length of 1.7 mi (2.7 km). The Golden Gate construction project began on January 5th, 1933, and costed more than $35 million. The project was finished by April 19th, 1937. The bridge opened in May 27th,1937, and was celebrated as the ’’opening-celebration’’.

It lasted one week.

200.000 people crossed by foot, and roller skate before the vehicle traffic as allowed.

The bridge is the only road to exit San Fransisco to the north. The roadway is hung by two cables. Each cable is made by 27,572

strands of wire. International orange was the choosen color for the bridge.

There have been many suicides on the bridge. The deck is 245 feet above the water, and it contains a fall on four seconds.

Most jumpers die from the hard contact with the water, and the few survivers
