I am a young British student at Cambridge Sixth Form College. I am 18 years old and have just been on a trip to the USA. More precise San Francisco, California. During my stay in California I have met with some Carrotmob activists who made a great impression on me. Carrotmob is an organization from San Francisco. Carrotmob is helping Supermarkets with being Greener and more environmentally friendly without getting too high charges. Carrotmob offer some money to the supermarket and for this money they are going to make energy efficiency improvements.
Besides these improvements will carrotmob try to help the supermarket with bringing new customers to the store. This is in case the changes will make some customers go away. After the changes must the supermarket give away 22 percent of the money they earn in the future. The money must go to new energy efficiency improvements. This is a win win situation for the customer and the supermarket. Instead of steering clear of environmentally backward stores, why not reward businesses with mass purchases if they promise to use some of the money to get greener?
The reason I write this letter is that I will invite Tesco to participate in a similar British initiative. There are many benefits with energy efficiency improvements. The energy efficiency improvements will for instance bring you new customers and a higher turnover. You will besides differentiate you from other supermarket and your reputation will grow with regard to the environment. We have to save the environment and you could start.
