Jørgen Schytte: Jørgen Schytte is a Danish photographer, who began his career in Copenhagen on the Photographic Trade School in 1965. Shortly after the beginning of his career, he got hired by the company “Danida”. His job was to describe the circumstances in the developing countries.1

The photo:The photo taken by Jørgen Schytte represents a man walking down a corridor. While walking he pulls a wagon behind him. The man is wearing a light shirt and dark trousers. The surroundings on the photo represent a factory. There are a lot of machines and boxes behind the walking man. I am not sure what kind of factory it is.There is no doubt that the man’s job is physically tough. His face expresses pain and exhaustion, and his back is curved, which it is a clear sign of effort. The man has lost his right hand, and I think it is because of an accident on his job. He looks old, but I don’t think, he is older than the man on the second photo. His hard work makes him look older, than he really is. He has dark rings under his eyes, because he gets tired out by working. Colors:The photo is in black-and-white colors, and I am not sure of the reason for the dark colors. I think the reason could be the fact, that it wasn’t possible for Jørgen to take color-photos. Otherwise Jørgen has chosen to edit the photo into black/white to make the atmosphere in the photo gloomy. I think he has chosen to edit the photo, because he finished his education as a photographer in 1968 – and at that time most photographers had the possibility to make color-photos.
