The narrator is 30 years old, is married and have kids. We don’t know his name. His father is a cop, and because of his job they move a lot. The first 2½ pages in the story is a flashback from when he was about 12 years old. He is violent in the school, because being in the top the hierarchy is so important for him. He cuts of his ‘loser’ friends, but he keeps seeing Willy, an abo (aboriginal) with a harsh childhood. The narrator describes Willy pretty negative the whole story. He doesn’t want to hear about his past or see him cry. The narrator has problem showing his feelings, and therefor he cannot handle Willy’s. He doesn’t even know what kind of feelings Willy has .He also describes Willy as a dog when they met at his first school day. His parents talks about adopting him, but then Willy comes in trouble, and the narrator’s father claims, that it is because he is an abo. But despite his treatment of Willy, the narrator tries to keep the contact with Willy, when he moves ‘to the city’. But slowly he forgets him.About 20 years later, the narrator moves back to his childhood town. There he meets Willy again to a football game. The narrator is glad to see him and feels that he understand Willy and the other abos. But then Willy knocks him down, and the narrator is secretly sad, disappointed and bitter. He claims, like his father, that it is because Willy is an abo. He moves with his family a year later.
