I have chosen this topic because I think it’s interesting and scarring at the same time.
And why is that? Well, you can look at it as a way of bullying minorities or you can look at it as a reaction from the losing part of a big conflict.
What is Ku Klux Klan?
The KKK is perhaps the most famous of all hate groups in America
The KKK was founded as a south state reaction to the defeat in the Civil War (1861-1865) against the northern part of the U.S.A.
The war was mainly about whether slavery should be forbidden or not. The northern states wanted to stop slavery but the southern states had been dependent on the black people who worked as free labours in their sugar-, cotton- and tobacco plantations for more than one hundred years. Keeping the black people as slaves for such a long time meant that racism was outspoken in the south.
In 1865 the northern states won the conflict and the slaves were set free.
