-The settings- the settings in the film are not that professional. More amateur, and they are not that professional as the settings in a modern film.

-The costumes- the costumes are very worn, and it is very old, like something you could from 100 years ago and all the characters were nearly wearing the same cloth.

-The language- the language is different to the English language today. Some words they are spelling different. It’s a kind of English slang. They are also using a lot of words that you don’t use anymore.

b) In what way do they make it easier/more difficult to understand the play? They are changing the language a bit into a more modern English so also children for example can understand the play, and they make the story more modern, so you can relate to it. In a scene in the film Romeo and Juliet are kissing in an elevator. In 1500-1600 you didn’t had elevators.2. Why is Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet (written in the 1590’s) still so popular today?

Because a love story can never be too old. You can always relate to a love story, because the love like the love of Romeo and Juliet can also happen today. In other words, love stories cannot run out of time and I am sure that this play “Romeo and Juliet” will also be a popular play in 2200 and maybe also 2300.
