I would like to tell about Bob Marley. Bob Marley was a very famous singer-songwriter-guitarist from Jamaica. Bob Marley came from a town called Trench Town. The people in Trench Town, were not rich, they were poor. In 1945 was Bob born. His genre was reggae. His religion was Rastafarian, and his haircut was dreadlocks, it was a part of Rastafarian.
In Jamaica there is a big difference between being rich or poor. If you already are rich, you remain rich, and if you are poor you will remain poor. But not Bob Marley, he started poor and at the end he was rich, so now there is many Jamaican people that look up to him.
He started a band called Bob Marley and the Wailers. There was a special thing about the Wailers, they sang about bad housing, hard work and poor wages- things people understood. Other bands sang about fast cars and expensive nightclubs- things people not can buy. The Wailers was so special. The Wailers become more and more famous, their first hit Simmer Down was followed by a string of songs which topped the Caribbean charts.
Bob Marley still just earned little money, but he thought if he traveled to America, he could earn more money. Bob Marley and the Wailers traveled to America. When they came to America, they were very surprised by the way life was there. Everybody was very busy, and the weather was much colder than in Jamaica. And if he wanted to stay in America, he would have to do military service, but Bob didn’t want anything to do with guns and killings, so he traveled home to Jamaica again.
