'Puppy love' hjælper fanger

The story is about how puppy love helps prisoners. The inmate Danny is near the end of a 10-year sentence, for kidnapping and burglary. He doesn’t have the best life because he no longer talks to his wife and his kids stopped visiting him years ago, but he says he feels positive about the future. When he gets out of the prison he wants to set up his own animal shelter. Danny says that working with the dogs helps him to help them and that it’s amazing to see how the puppies change after all the terrible cruelty they went through. Therefore, I think Danny means helping and protecting the abandoned and mistreated animals brings out the best in him and the other prisoners. The Safe Harbour program is who gets the inmates to rehabilitate abandoned dogs; it’s well-established and popular with people on both sides of the prison fence.

I think they are introducing the prisoners to the animals because they want them to know that when they hurt people or their family it is like hurting the animals. Then the prisoners open up their eyes for what they actually did and why they ended up in the prison. Some of them feel sorry for the animals/the people they have hurt and when they get out of the prison they would never do anything stupid again, they would just end up in prison again and I don’t think they want that. But another reason could be if they don’t want the prisoners to be lonely, so they give them a puppy to take care on.
