We don’t know who the narrator is but it is a 1. person narrator. You can tell by the use of ’I’ and that he does not know very much about the murder.
The narrator speaks in different tones through the story. When he talks about the nature, the mountains, the clouds or the sky, he sounds very calm and peaceful. When he talks about the U.S. 36, he sounds a bit desperate and stressed. But all the time, he sounds sincere.
The narrator finds the nature important, because he wants us to see all the beautiful thing we does not normally sees. He also wants us to see as many details as possible. Maybe some of the ‘clues’ to the murder is in the nature. The narrator often talks about the blue sky. The colour blue is associated with things like spirituality, mystery and it is the thinking colour. This could mean that, the narrator is a spirit now, and wants us to think about beautiful things in life. The orange mountains are also a thing, the narrator talks about. The colour orange is associated with cruelty, spontaneity and it is the desperation colour. This could mean that the murder was spontaneous and the person who did it was very desperate.
