At the beginning of the film it’s summer, here we see that pregnant Celie and Nettie, they run around in a field of purple flowers and having fun. On the field they make some word rhymes, which reads. ”you cannot keep my sister away from me” and” Never shall we be separated." it shows that the two have a really good sister relationship to each other, maybe better than other sisters.
Celie gave birth to a little girl, but it was not her first child. One year earlier she gave birth to a boy. Bough children were given up for adoption.
Celie had been abused by her own father, so she will get pregnant and he would sell the children and get money for them. Because of her mother’s dead, it was Celie, the oldest of his daughters that had to have children.
Later was Celie forced to marry Albert Johnson. Albert used her only to cook and clean after his uncontrollable children. One day came Nettie on a visit and asked if she could stay a few days. She came to their house, because now had Celie and Nettie `s father, tried to do the same to Nettie, as their father did to Celie, but she didn’t wanted to be a part of what her father did to Celie.
