Dracula: resumé af Bram Stokers roman

Jonathan Harker, a young lawyer from London travels to Transylvania to help a rich nobleman, Count Dracula. Dracula is planning to move to England, and wants Jonathan to help him. The next nights at Draculas castle happens many strange things. Jonathan can’t sleep, so he gets up, dresses and shaves before sunrise. Suddenly Dracula appears, but he casts no reflection in the shaving mirror. And when he sees Jonathan’s crucifix, he stops at once. Angrily, he throws the mirror out of the window. Soon after, Jonathan realizes that he's a prisoner in the castle.One evening, he tries to find a way to escape. The only way he can get out of his locked room is by climbing out of the window. He’s terrified, but he knows he will be killed if he doesn’t escape.

Meanwhile, back in England, Jonathans fiancé, Mina, is on holiday with her best friend Lucy in Whitby. Mina's worried about Jonathan and wonders why she hasn't heard from him for so long, but Lucy can only think about her own problems. She gets three marriage proposals in the same day by three friends: Dr. John Seward, a doctor who runs a mental hospital; Quincey Morris, an American, and Arthur Holmwood. She accepts Arthur Holmwood. Meanwhile, Dracula has arrived in England. A patient in Dr. Seward's hospital, Renfield, starts to eat insects and spiders. Lucy starts acting weird – she seems to be losing blood, but no one knows where the blood's going. Her fiancé, Arthur Holmwood, gets worried, and Jack Seward sends for his friend and mentor, Van Helsing, to check her out.Van Helsing realizes that there's a vampire involved. He's a scientist and doctor. Even after giving her blood transfusions, they're not able to save Lucy, and she dies. But Van Helsing knows she's not really dead. She’s now a vampire, but the four men catch her. Arthur hammers a wooden stock in to her heart to kill her and cuts off her head to give her peace.
