Slavery and Child Labor

Slavery is a system under which people are treated as property to be bought and sold, and are forced to work.

Slaves will most likely be held against their will from the time they're captured, purchased or birth.

Slavery started in Africa, and got spread all over the globe, especially children were forced to work as slaves, child soldiers, and forced into marriage.

Slavery is now officially illegal in all countries, but there are still an estimated 20 million to about 30 million slaves worldwide.

Human trafficking is primarily used for forcing women and children into sex industries.

Senegambia is a country in Africa. Between 1300 and 1900, close to one-third of the population was slaves, half of those slaves were children that got forced into marriages and becoming child soldiers.

A slave had very few rights and could be bought or sold and made to work for the owner without any choice or pay.

Child Slavery:

There are 215 million child labourers aged between 5 and 17 years old

115 million children work in the worst forms of child labour

8.4 million children are in slavery or trafficking and other forms of forced labour.
