Fair Trade is kind of a certificate for products, which means that the product is not illegally produced, etc. child labor, and that the money the product costs, goes to the right persons, like the producers, and not intermediaries. As Fair Trade is getting more popular, it has become a hobby or lifestyle for some people, they would only buy organic or Fair Trade products, even though it might cost a bit more. I have this one friend, which mother is all crazy about organic products and Fair Trade, I don’t mind it and sometimes we actually joke a bit about it, even though we shouldn’t do that, as it is wrong and we know she only do it for good measures.
Made in China, is a very common sentence on many toys and other things, but each time I hear or read that sentence, I think about child labor. I don’t support child labor at all, and generally the idea of kids working without making much money, doesn’t seem right in any way, when they could be going to school, and have a spare time, that they could spend with their friends and family, just like kids in the western countries. Child labor is the main thing, I think about when I hear Fair Trade, and yet I will diffidently look for Fair Trade, or similar, when I grow old enough to buy my own kid toys, I believe that I would pay attention to where it’s from, and how it’s made.
