Copyright violation is an ever increasing problem in the 21st century as the internet expands and more people realizes the benefits of illegal downloading. But what are the consequences of our actions?

Give an outline of the attitudes to copyright violation and illegal downloading as presented in texts 1 and 3.

In the article ”It’s Evolution, Stupid” the author, Peter Sunde, claims that the entertainment industry instead of “looking at evolution as something inevitable” opts to oppose it by suing people who infringe copyright laws and they are willing to go as far as corrupting the legal system in order to prevent copyright violation which they actually did with Peter Sunde. Sunde believes that copyright protection is outdated and that people deserves to have the opportunity to listen to music and watch movies online. He urges everyone to fight the corrupted entertainment industry by boycotting their products. In contrast to Peter Sunde, the acclaimed poet, Wendy Cope, is outraged by the hefty copyright violation happening on the internet. She intensively fight copyright violation as she worries that the fact everyone can read her poets for free might affect her book sales as she is dependent on that income. Cope knows that more often than not, the people violating the copyrights are unaware of the damage they are causing for both author and publisher and admits that the battle against internet piracy is quite difficult and demanding.
