Billy Elliot is an eleven year old boy. He lives in Everington in the northeast England with his dad, brother, and grandmother. In the beginning he goes to boxing, but his boxing skills are terrible, and he really hates the sport. One day when he sees Mrs. Wilkinsons ballet class dance and joins them, he discovers that he really likes to dance ballet. But his father won't let him dance ballet, because he think it is a "gay sport." Billy is now in a dilemma. Should he do what his father says, and become a "real man" or should he follow his heart and become a ballet dancer Billy decides to do what he loves the most, he takes ballet classes in secret, and he becomes a better dancer. After many lies and much training, his teacher suggests that he could go to an audition for a place at a ballet school in London, but of course his father is against it. One day Billy is showing his friend michael some ballet moves, and his dad sees them, he is very upset at first, but very suprised how good Billy is. He decides to support Billy, and let Billy follow his dream, because he think that maybe this could be a future for Billy. So he lets Billy dance and tries to help him get enough money so he can get to the audition in London. And of course Billy gets in. I think Billy is doing the right thing, I think it is stupid that he is lying, but I get why he does it. Because if I were Billy I would have followed my heart and did what i loved. It is my future, so why let my parrents stop me from following my dream.
