I found it very interesting knowing a lot about families going through problems with drugs. I just think it’s so frustrating that nearly every day you hear about a drug tragedy or similar, and one year it has been so bad that around 258 drug addicts died in 2001. I really think that people could learn from it. Later on I will tell you a story, which made me open my eyes and see how bad it can go.
Why young people do drugs
The main reason why so many people do drugs is definitely because of curiosity and enjoyment. A large percentage of young people is naturally curious and wants to experiment with different experiences. For some, drugs are a good conversation point, they are interesting to talk about and fascinate everyone. A thing that keeps me wondering is when people say, “Everybody does it”. Actually I start thinking well who am I then? I don’t do drugs and I never plan to so one reason could be that by saying “everybody does it" makes what they are doing seem less bad. It is an excuse for a behavior they know is inappropriate. Even though the other reason why so many young people do drugs is because they don’t get enough attention at home, the parents keep giving their children moneys or new clothes, something that will make them happy. My mom actually works with old drugs addicts and every day she hears stories about how it all started and a big percentage gives the reason above. A lot of them grow up in the United States, which doesn’t surprise so many because it’s even a bigger amount of people who do drugs over there.
