This essay critically examines the debate surrounding violent video games and their alleged connection to real-world aggression and school shootings. It addresses the accusations made against video games by politicians and the media, citing examples like the Columbine High School massacre. The essay argues that while a small number of mentally unstable individuals might be affected, people are ultimately responsible for their own actions, and media violence is not the primary cause of aggression, especially when comparing violence rates across countries.

Video games get the blame to be the reason behind school shootings

Since the violent video games came out, they have been accused of making young people aggressive and violent. The German politicians accused World of Warcraft, a computer game, to be the reason behind the school massacre that happened in Baden- Württemberg. They mean that the game should be forbidden for young people under the age of 18.

Apart from the simple facts, it seems to be a good reason why politicians propose crackdown. In many of the school shootings, have the guilty used a lot of their time playing the newest and most bloody video games. In 1997 the parents of the killed in a school shooting in Kentucky, U.S.A defendants the producers behind the games Quake and Mortal Combat, the games that the attacks man used to play. 18-year-old Eric Harris and 17-year-old Dylan Klebold, both of them was big fans of a very popular action game called DOOM. The two boys killed 12 students and one teacher at Columbine High School in Colorado in 1999, right after the school shooting happened, the video games got the blame of their violent behavior.
