The texts 1 and 2 each talks about the consequences of the riots, and why the riots happened. Text 1 – Experts Cite Underlying Causes for UK Riots – says that the rioting was done for profit. Their riot does not really have a reason or an objective other than the profit it is just to get a slice of the action. Text 2 – however – states that, the rioters do not feel that they were a part of the community, which caused the reason why the riots happened.
Throughout the riots, looting has also happened. The first text states the reason using a quote from an interview with Basani Mabyslane where she says that the looting does not happen for a reason, which has become clear throughout the riot, as the riot seemed without an objective, which she also says... Erica Lopez, a member of HYPE, says that they “(…) are just looting to loot, with no reason, just because they want to do it (…)”, ref. p. 3/12, ll. 8-9.
Other than that, text 1 also says, that the rioters did not have their parents by their side as they were supposed to which means that their parents were not there when they needed them. Additionally there have been poor discipline in the schools in which the rioters have attended. All of this have caused the rioters crying silently, according to Mabyslane. While the second text does not talk against what the first text says, it adds that the rioters do not feel that they are a part of the community.
