9/11 was the name that was given (huske EN) to an event involving two planes, which crashed into the Twin Towers in New York, USA on the 11th of September, 2001. It was a planned (pland) act of terror performed by al-Qaida.
Al-Qaida is a military group who’s political and religious (relities) views stand in opposition to those (dåose) of the US government. The members of al-Qaida follow the teachings of Osama bin laden. Four planes were hijacked by al-Qaida on September 11, 2001. At 8:46 a.m. the first plane crashed into the North Tower, 17 minutes after the South Tower was hit by a second plane, the third hijacked plane was flown into Pentagon, and the fourth (forthe) and last plane never reached its target.
At this awful event 2753 (fifty) people were killed, another 189 lost their lives at the Pentagon, and 44 people died when the fourth (forthe) plane crashed.
As a result of 9/11 the US began a war on terror. This war made a lot of people to feel unsafe and this mentality (mentalyti) and fear can still be seen today, just 13 years later.
Today there has been built a memorial park at the site of the twin towers to commemorate (som det staves) the event; it was opened on September 11, 2010, exactly ten years after the attack.
