This movie “the cider house rules” is a brilliant movie and it is a movie that gives you a lot to think about. That is also a movie where you have a lot of thinks to analyse and interpret specially Homers development is obvious to analyse and that is also what I will do. I will give you a good and precisely analysis of Homers development and that will also be with a really good description.
At St. Clouds Homer lives a quiet and simple life as Dr. Larch’s assistant and in the beginning it looks likes he enjoys to be Dr. Larch’s assistant, but when he have to do the abortions it seems like he do not like to do it. In that time he also begins to think that he has to move on. He cannot stay at the St. Clouds the rest of his life, because he thinks that he doesn’t make a different. He thinks that his life does not make sense because he also has to move on and that is also what Homer does in the end of the movie.
At the apple orchard, Homer discovers that life is a complex thing and maybe more complex that he could imagine. He gets a lot of ups and downs when he experiencing the world out of St. Clouds. It really hurts him when Candy makes use of him, but Homer learns to live with it because that is how Homer is as a human. Homer is a good boy but with that childhood he had, he could have been a more different person and human. There is a scene in the movie were Homer really shows his development. There is a girl who becomes pregnant and it was something that should not happen to this girl. Homer helps the girl with an abortion. This abortion that Homer makes is an abortion he couldn’t do at the St. Clouds.
