The story is based on what it’s like to have a teenager in the house. There are many problems by that, which I am going to tell you about. First of all it’s just about unknown for the parents if what they do is correct or not, right or wrong. Actually it must be unbelievably hard to have and care for teenage children, basically because of the teenagers’ constant need of attention from their parents. A teenager always wants to be the centre of the family, and in desperate times they will do just about anything to fill that lack of attention from either the father or mother. And when there occasionally are two tough children, it most certainly becomes at least twice that hard to parent them both and to behave at their best in different situation. In this case we’ve got 2 children, both most certainly with a lack of attention, which makes them both needy for that attention. That causes trouble between the siblings, because they want to “beat” each other by getting more attention than one another. That is the main theme of the text, which I will go into details about.
The narrator is a 14-year-old girl. She’s the oldest in the family with one younger sister. She is a typical teenager with many problems in her life. One of her problems is a boy named Gary, who is one of her good friends. She spends a lot of her time with him, and mostly they spend their time together talking about sex. Actually she seems so busy with her own problems that she doesn’t seem to notice the problems at home:
