The secret life of Walter Mitty is a short story that tells about a man called Walter Mitty. Mitty is on a trip into the town, with his domineering wife. Walter is inept at many things. He gets distracted when he drives his car, he can’t handle things normally, and he forgets things easily. What makes him that person is because he daydreams a lot, by imagining himself as another person. While Mitty goes through a day with ordinary things and habit, he escapes into a series of romantic fantasies. As he drives his car, he imagines he is ordering a “seaplane” through a terrible storm. When he drives past a hospital, he imagines that he is the world famous doctor saving a person’s live. When Mitty hears a boy who sells newspaper shouting about a trial, he imagines he is a very good speaker, were everyone hears him in a courtroom. As he waits for his wife to finish at the hairdresser, he sees some pictures of German plane and imagines he is a British pilot that is willing to sacrifice his life for his country. After his wife finished the hairdresser, she walks into a drugstore to buy something while her husband waits outside. Mitty imagines himself as a brave man that is going to be shot by some soldiers. The story ends by waiting for the death in his imagination.
