In my English lessons, we saw a film called "Dead man Walking". Before I watched the film I had a strong opinion about the death penalty, I thought it was the best way to punish people, who had killed one or several humans. However, the more that I thought about it, the more I did changed my mind. Capital punishment is a topic that evokes many different feelings: Should USA destroy all these families because execution is the easy way out for people there can't afford a fair trial? One more thing that I had thought about is that the majority of the States who have capital punishment are the most Christian States. Has the population forgotten the 10 commandments? The number 6 of the 10 commandment says, "You shall not murder". I don’t get people who thinks it’s wrong to kill, but thinks it’s fair to let people Into death penalty. In “Dead man Walking” Matthew Poncelet is the convicted person, he is sitting on the death row, and waiting to be executed and maybe he got a hope, probably hoping for a fair trial or seeing his family members before the day of the execution. Living in a cell on death row is like being an animal in a cage. You are fed 3 times a day. You have no privacy when you are going to the toilet. Your social needs can't be full filled. Some of people become quite religious, brings hope back into your life. The expectations of better things to come and forgiveness. And maybe that’s why Matthew got help from Sister Helen. She could bring some hope back into Matthews’s life. Make him feel a lot stronger and more calmed and that’s is a great thing when u are on a death penalty. So u don’t feel completely alone in the world, when u cant see your family or talk to them. However, I don’t think death penalty is a good thing, because no one in this world deserves to die no matter what they have done. Therefore, I think death penalty is wrong.
