The movie is all about the murder, Matthew Poncelet and the nun, Helen Prejean.
It all start with Helen got a letter from Matthew Poncelet, where he tells her how his life is in the jail, he describe exactly how he feels. For example he tells how he keep in shape and how he’s feeling like he is getting fed up.
When sister Helen were done reading the letter, she drove to the “Death row”.
Before she could visit Poncelet, she had to talk with a man. The man told her what Poncelet did.
The man said that Poncelet and his friend, Vitello, murdered and raped a girl and her boyfriend. They took a knife and stabbed them and both of them were dead.
Matthew Poncelet told his opinion of that night. He also tells more about his life, he says that he got a little girl. In the start, he isn’t so open about his life.
Helen promises to do her best to help Poncelet. She hire one of the best lawyers for him.
The lawyer suggests that Matthew mom is going to make a speech. Poncelet isn’t too happy with that, because he don’t want the whole world to see his mother cry.
