'Here's Herbie' novelleanalyse

Stort summary: Here’s Herbie is a short story about the life of a paranoid person (The narrator). The narrator is trapped at home, because his mother’s mental illness. The narrator’s mother was always so sick- that he had to compete with his mother in order to get some attention to himself, since his mother was getting it all. One day he meet a wird man in the train, and this man changes the narrator's life. What change in the narrators life is, that he learn to follow his dreams, without caring about what people would say about it.

The narrator: Then the narrator was 15, the main thing that characterized him – according to what we’ve read- is, that he was possessed of a great many psychosomatic complaints, including being allergic to number of things, for example grass, trees and actually to everything. The narrator’s mother was always so sick- Both mentally and physically- with the point where he had to compete with his mother in order to get some attention to himself, since his mother is getting it all. Not enough with being sick, she also complained a lot ; Moaning. The narrator is a person afraid of everything, an example could be that he was afraid of subways, because he always think that something horrible could happen. And he is a kind of person that always are thinking about what people would think about him, an example would be that he never had the nerve to go up and look out of the window, because he felt like it would be very embarrassing and very uncool to stand up and look out the window.
