Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was born in a small village, in Mvezo in Transkei, in South Africa. He was born the 18 of July 1918 and died in 2013. He was son of a chieftain. He studied law in Johannesburg and became a lawyer.

ANC

African National Congress (ANC) was a political party. They fought for equal rights for black and white people and against apartheid. ANC was a positive thing for all South Africans who opposed apartheid. To realize ANC goals, Nilsson Mandela where leading ANC with peaceful protests, strikes and demonstrations, and in 1955 became the organization's vision presented in the so-called Freedom Charter. Nelson Mandela joined the ANC in 1942. Together with Walter Sisulu, Oliver Tambo, William Nkomo and Anton Lembede he formed in September 1944 the ANC Youth League.

The apartheids respons to ANC had consequences. The dictatorial means for exhalable suppression freedom of speech, police violence, abduction population massacres, population massacres. One of the most well known cases is the massacre in Sharpeville in 1960, was when police shot and killed 69 and wounded 180 demonstrators.

In 1948 came a new government to power in South Africa. It was led by the Nationalist Parti, who won the election on a program of separation of the country's different ethnic groups.The program was called apartheid, and it had two purposes: First, it should ensure and preserve the white South Africans privileges and secondly it should ensure the whites power over the state apparatus and control of the country's workforce. Over the next 40 years, the apartheid expanded and consolidated. The result was a crime against humanity.
