'This is England' filmanalyse

This is England is a British drama film written by a man named Shane Meadows. The film is about young skinheads in England in the 1980s. The film shows that the skinhead subculture, that have roots back to the 1960s including elements of black culture especially soul and reggae music, became adopted by the white nationalists. This led to divisions in the skinhead groups, with the white nationalists on one side and the black, original, skinheads.

The film is set in an unknown town by the coast in the English midlands in 1983. The main character in the film is a 12-years-old boy named Shaun (played by Tomas Turgoose). In the start of the film Shaun gets into a fight in the school because someone makes an offensive joke about his farther, who died in the Falklands war. On his way home from school he encounters a group of young skinheads led by the sympathy full Richard ''Woody'' Woodford (played by Joe Gilgun). Woody, who feels sympathy for Shaun, invites him to join the group. The other skinheads in the group accepts Shaun as a member of the group and Shaun finds a big brother in Woody, while developing a romance with Smell (played by Rosamund Hanson), an older girl who dresses in a punkie new wave style.
