Child labour means work that is prohibited for children of certain age groups. It is work performed by children who are under the minimum age legally specified for certain kind of work, because of its detrimental conditions, is considered unacceptable for children.

Today:

There is still a lot of child labour today. All children who works, work under very bad conditions. They work full time every day and there’s no time to relax, go to school or play, and there are only a small break for meals. Many of the children are under 14 years old. There are also a lot of children who can’t go home, so they sleep at their work place, which is very bad for their health and development. Many of the girls work as maids in rich people’s houses, other work as prostitutes. They also work in tea stalls, restaurants or beg in the streets. It’s often very hard physical and mental work. Sometimes kids are kidnapped to work for other people. To stop this child labour, the government has taken some concrete steps for improving the situations of child labourers. Providing free education, encouraging parents to send their kids to schools with awareness campaigns and allocation of funds towards child health and development, are some of the steps taken by the state.
