Racism, Discrimination, and Prejudice

From what we see in American History, we can tell that no one is born racist. It is only one of the types of discrimination we people have invented, because the things we do not understand, scare us. People did the same kind of stuff way back, when they burned witches, and though that is radical to compare with, burning black people is not something that haven’t happened. Some people may think that racism is dead, but it still circles around and is still a problem in America. Sometimes we hear about an unarmed black kid killed by police and other times it is that immigrants cause more crime than the general population, when in fact that is not true.

Today we know that people with black pigmented skin are normal human beings and not some kind of animals discovered in America 500 years ago. And after we understood that, terrible organizations like KKK began to shrink to nothing and now there is a black president – crazy, right?

So from back in the days when the majority of the white population were racist, to now where it’s only a small group of hillbillies and Nazis remaining, we have come far – and that is probably also thanks to proper education. And as we see in the movie, Derek were not always a racist Nazi. Back in his young days, he really liked his teacher Sweeney, whom were black, but then he had a conversation with his dad that changed his life. His dad were displeased with all the glory Derek gave Sweeney and destroyed Derek’s view on African-American people. After his dad was killed, he blamed all black people, so parents and people around you can also really affect you in a big way.
