Mr. Keating Mr. John Keating is the new teacher and former student at The Welton Academy prep boarding school. He is firstly introduced by Nolan, the headmaster, in the beginning of the movie. Mr. Keating teaches very differently than his collaborates. He likes to inspire and encourage the individual student, and focuses on teaching the students to think individually, be free-thinkers, to not let others change who you are or be in charge of your life and to see all things from different angels.
