Billy Casper is a teenage boy who lived with his family who didn't really care about him. He was neglected and abused by his mother and older brother, Judd. Billys Father is dead, and that might one of the reasons of Billys misbehave. They didn't care about anything that happened in his life. In school the other children teased him and bullied him around and they would beat him up for fun because he was smaller than them. The teachers didn’t like him either, they would shout at him if he answered a question wrong in class. His mom calls him “a hopeless case”. Billy often came into trouble, and got other with in to them. That’s might a reason why everyone didn’t really care about him. Nothing seemed to go right in Billy's life until the day he found Kes. That day Billy went out in to the woods and he found this bird, the bird seemed to trust him. He spent all day with the bird after a few days he started to teach the bird tricks. Soon he got the bird to come around with him and people were amazed because a little boy could tame a wild bird. Nothing really changed about Billys surroundings, everybody treated him exactly like they were used to. But Billy was changed, he had a passion. Suddenly Billy had something to care about.
