Clara is a 15 year old girl who hasn’t been brought up very well by her mother. She never received very much attention from her mother, because her mother used to spend most of her time with her boyfriend, Stan. It is blatantly obvious that she craves attention, seeing as she goes into school and strips. It turns out that she is very lonely and at the end of the story, she sits and cries. When she speaks, she speaks in short sentences. Clara’s mother and father are divorced and live separately from each other.
The Head:
She seems pretty cute and tries to help Clara by asking her how everything is going at home. The boss tells her that she is going write a letter to her mother and asks her to go directly to her in the future whenever there is something wrong.
Clara's mother:
She seems very selfish and spends more time on herself and her boyfriend, than she spends on her daughter. She laughs at her daughter, when she strips in school in front of everyone. She spends a lot of time reading magazines and enjoys being at home with Stan, whenever he isn’t working. She worked part-time as a dentist's receptionist and had what were called flexible hours, meaning that she worked more or less when it suited her.
