Karakteranalyse i 'Dead Poets' Society'

The movie is about some young boys who go on a very hard boarding school, Welton. At the boarding school they get a new teacher, whose name is John Keating. You can’t compare him with other teachers because his goal with the teaching is to make the pupils think themselves and research life and the literature. The boys choose to make a group “Dead Poets’ Society”, where they smoke and drink while they read poets to each other. Students admire Keating and he means a lot to them. He is the reason why Neil gets brave and starts an acting career, because his father was against it.

Todd Anderson is the youngest of his family, when he starts on the boarding school Welton, there are many who are expecting a lot from him, since his brother went there, and he was successful and was a National Merit Scholar. When Anderson starts at the school, he was very shy and a hard time on open up himself for other people. With Neil and Keating’s help he started open up himself. He was also the one who stepped back. He wasn’t a big part of their common activities. He was a very insecure person. In the movie Keating forces Todd to stand up in front of the whole class and make a poem. That’s where Todd proves that he is able to express himself when things go wrong. Neil always invited him to be a part of the different social activities example the group: ”Dead poet’s society”.
