In the novel Of Mice And Men you have George and Lennie, they are two guys there is friends and they are trying to find work. They have been working in Weed until Lennie came to close to a woman and ended up killing her. He didn’t do it on purpose but they still need to run from Weed and try to find another place to live and work. George and Lennie’s relationship is special, but also really nice. George are taking the father roll in the novel. He gets Lennie out of his problems and troubles, like when they were in Weed and Lennie got into trouble, it was George telling him what to do and where to go. Lennie depends a lot of George and Lennie tells that they have each other to take care of “But not us! An’ why? Because… because I got you to look after me, and you got me to look after you.” (Steinbeck 14) This quotes shows that Lennie know as long as they have each other they should be okay.
George is acting like he is Lennie’s dad and are doing everything to make him happy. So George tell stories Lennie love and George always tells Lennie that he can take care of the rabbits if he don’t get in trouble “sure we will” (Steinbeck 14). That is George answer when Lennie ask if they can have rabbits. George also tells he can’t get in trouble. “You gonna have trouble with that Curley guy” and that shows even though George tells Lennie not to get in trouble George know its going to happen at some point. Lennie had always wanted a puppy and s the fatherly roll George is, he makes sure Lennie is going to get at puppy at some point. But after Lennie get to have a puppy he still don’t know how much power he have and ends up killing the little puppy. But George is not going to let Lennie get in trouble so he covers up for him and help him.
