“The passenger”, is as the title suggests about the experiences of the lead protagonist Babe, she is a driver in Los Angeles, and the Chins who apparently are Asian tourists. The story changes quick from a mundane daily affair for babe as a limousine driver, to an experience that she can’t come to terms with. This story rotates about Babes flashbacks from her completely messy and confusing life and then comes back to her current life as a limousine driver. The narrator, Babe defines the past events about her mother and what her current life is like, vividly.
The narrator in this story is Babe a twenty-three-year-old female limousine driver. It starts off describing Babe’s physical appearance with her justifying her image as not being a biker chick or a punk or a fashion hag. As a limo driver babe has a dispatcher named Ruthanne, he’s the one who sends her out on assignments. Babe has never met Ruthanne but still has a close relationship with her.
Ruthanne sends her to pick up the Chins, outside international baggage at the airport, Irritated that she has to "circle the drain,”
Babe lives alone on Lincoln boulevard in a second story box, she have a few friends, and no boyfreind.
