The first text “Internet addiction even worries Silicon Valley ” is a newspaper report by Chief reporter Tracy McVeigh posted in “The Guadian” in 2012 as a warning to especially teenagers and teenagers’ parents. The article warns about the teenagers being unable to connect with real people because of their use of internet friendships. Silicon Valley documents her position by referring to experts as the psychologist Seth Meyers who compares the internet addiction to a drug addiction. Furthermore, the documentary “Kony” is used to document the fact that the internet addiction can have some serious consequences. The reason why this documentary is used is because it is a documentary where Jason Russell spends a lot of time on the internet and very little on sleeping and socializing face-to-face which makes him break down mentally.
The second text “Teenagers and social networking -it might actually be good for them” is paper written by the Canadian freelance journalist, blogger and technology writer Clive Thompson. The article was also posted in “The Guardian” as in the case with the first text. This article is however posted and written one year later as a response to the first mentioned article. Clive claims that the newspapers and the specialists all over the world forget to write and tell about all the good things the internet is doing to the young people. While chatting on the internet is seen as a sort of isolating by the specialists then Clive consider it as being a part of socializing nowadays. Also in this article experts are involved in the shape of Amanda Lenhart who has documented a connection between chatting a lot online and seeing a lot of friends face-to-face.
