En fin engelsk opgave, hvor der bliver snakket om den irske immigration til England. Den indeholder bl.a. info om Dublins havn, tiden i New york og ræset om land.

Dublin harbor was geographically not the optimal harbor, because you either had to sail north or south of Ireland to come to America. Instead if you had sailed from the west coast the ride had been much shorter. The reason that they sailed from Dublin harbor was because it was one of the largest trading harbors at the time, and the larger a harbor, the more ships. Then those who came with goods to Dublin harbor, could take the immigrants back to America.

The feelings on the harbor must have been very different. People have been full of hope, despair, joy and sorrow. Especially sorrow, because it wasn't always that the family could afford everyone to go. Because of that families sometimes split up, where the kids traveled and the parents stayed, or vice versa.

In our stories Jonas person was very confused because of the huge crowd of people. However, my person wasn't because she knew Dublin. therefor she helped Jonas person to find his boat.

The time in New York: Between the years 1870 and 1900 12 million. Europeans emigrated to the UNITED states. Many arrived to New York, fleeing from poverty or political and religious persecution in their home country, and they put their trust in a city where everyone could find happiness. However, the streets was filled with broken dreams. Discrimination and unemployment were everyday life for many immigrants. in particular, those who settled down on the Lower East Side, the lower part of Manhattan, where they lived under very poor conditions in closet-sized apartments or simply on the streets.
