Redaktørens vurdering
7 God
Opgaven giver en god historisk gennemgang af hip-hop kulturen. Dog er der mange sproglige fejl, og der mangler kildehenvisninger, hvilket trækker ned i den akademiske tyngde.

Hip-Hop music, also known as hip hop or rap music, is a genre of music that developed in the United States of America in the 1970s. The music consists of a beat, with is a loop of music like a drum solo, it can be just a beat or there can be added a special form of “singing” to it called “rapping”

Origins

The Hip-Hop music and culture formed during the 1970s when block parties became extremely popular in New York City, particularly among the young people in the Bronx. Where the DJs began taking vinyl discs and isolating breaks of the song and playing them in a loop, this technique was introduced into New York by immigrants from Jamaica and elsewhere in the Caribbean, including DJ Kool Herc also known as “the founding father of Hip-Hop”, because breaks where usually very short, Dj kool Herc and other DJs began using two discs instead of one, by doing this they could extend the break. DJs such as Grand wizzard Theodore, or Grandmaster Flash, refined and developed the use of breakbeats, including cutting and scratching.

Kool Hercs technique was soon copied all over The United Stated and by the late 1970’s, DJs were releasing records where they would rap to beats.
