Analyse af Tupacs 'Ghetto Gospel'

“I hope we see the light before it's ruined” (verse 1, line 17) these lines make reference to the main theme in the song Ghetto Gospel that is to end the war on the streets and to dream for a better future with no violence and pain. A subtheme in this song is injustice between the black minority. He mentions that he wants the Afro-American men to live a more peaceful life without hate and conflicts. The song is made by Tupac Amaru Shakur (1971-1996) also known by his stage name 2Pac. He was an American rapper and actor and he is ranked as one of the most influential rappers of all time from the West Coast. On September 7, 1996, Tupac Shakur was shot four times in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas. He was taken to a hospital in Nevada, where he died from his injuries six days later.

Tupac has a lot of aggression and power in his voice in the song ghetto gospel. He uses slang from his neighbourhood like nigga “I sit and reminisce nigga, thinkin' of bliss and the good days” (verse 1, line 2) and that indicates that he raps in the Gangsta rap style. He also sings about the environment that includes drugs and violence “and over there there's a lady, crack got her crazy, guess she's given birth to a baby” (verse 2, line 3 and 4) and that also express the Gangsta rap style. Tupac is also pointing out in a sarcastic way that they are in this bad circle where the parents pass on the unhealthy lifestyle with drugs to the children. He isn't just a Gangsta rapper “Don't them let me get teary, the world looks dreary” (verse 1, line 11) He also takes some of the struggles of living in poverty and the ghetto and turn it into a kind of poetry with things like metaphors, internal rhymes, and end rhymes through the song.
