Accent: the way people pronounce words and tends to linked with a particular dialect

For a Dane, which is better to learn: American or British English? What rule of thumb should be followed in speech and writing?

It does not matter, the rule of thumb is to just always be consistent, so either use British or American, don’t mix them.
