To what extent was nationalism responsible for the independence of Kenya and India?

The British started colonizing in the early 1600’s but they started by taking over quite a lot of the americas. It was not until 1757 that the british came to India to gain control over India. They were fighting the Dutch and the Portuguese for control over india. The reason why the british wanted control over india was to make it easier for them to trade with other countries in asia. Because india was such a big country with many goods this did so a lot of other countries in asia wanted to trade with India. This meant that the British would earn quite a lot of money by taking control over India. It was also so they could find spices and different types of tea. Later in 1885 the British came to kenya to reason for this was mainly for economic reasons. It was also because kenya had some resources that the british needed. One of the bigger factors were also that kenya is a big country with good areas for farming. This plan with farming went downhill because there was a overuse of the soil and there were a lot of diseases just to name a few of the issues.
