Dear Uncle Paul, I am writing to express my sincerest gratitude for the most lovely birthday present you gave me this year. As you already know, I am a big Arsenal fan and to get a chance to see them play live in a cup final, at Wembley (one of my favorite football grounds), was just the most delightful thought when I first heard about the tickets. I think you also know my passion for football and this match was between London’s top 2 footballing clubs (in terms of trophies) so it was just the perfect match for me to go watch live. The trip to UK was, as expected, a wonderful and memorable one but no place there mesmerized me as much as when I first set foot inside the ground. The atmosphere, that I have been witnessing over the TV or online all these years, was suddenly alive and breathing in front of me. I couldn’t believe that a mere game could bring so many people together and against each other and create a very healthy competition and rivalry both on the pitch and in the stands. Just to be sure and fit right in, I got there and settled in early which provided me with the opportunity of yet another experience in itself. I got to sit relatively close to my team’s dug out so it wasn’t too late after I got there that the players started emerging from the tunnel to go out on the pitch and start warming up. Everyone present in the stands at the time started cheering them on so a few of them stopped and waved to us in appreciation. The moment of brilliance came when I got to meet with my idol Mesut Ozil, who came over to sign a few autographs. I can’t never be grateful enough for that! My team eventually won the match after a nail biter, as expected, but the ups and downs had me, and thousands of other supporters breathless. During the match I got to meet and greet with other fans of my club and while the main topic of discussion was obviously the match, I actually got to learn about a few of them just like they got to know me. One thing that I noticed about the British culture in those moments was that they are generally very nice and welcoming people which made my stay in the UK a remarkable one and already left me craving to visit again for which I am, once again, very grateful of you! Best Wishes, - Nicolaj
