Den amerikanske drøm: opnåelighed og udfordringer

Some say that the American Dream is a success, some say that it can’t be achieved. There are many points of views when it comes to the American Dream. The American Dream is a lot of different things but overall it is hard work and self-reliance. Through hard work and self-reliance, you can achieve everything - that is the traditional way of achieving the dream. The American Dream is getting harder for every year that goes by. We’ll come back to the reasons behind it in another section.

In the Frugal Family they believe that you can achieve the American Dream with hard work and self-reliance. According to the Fugal Family you can save a lot of money if you don’t use it on unnecessary stuff. A quote from the text, “They buy a new car only when they’ve saved up enough cash to pay for it in full, about every 10 years or so.” – page 162, line 23. This quote is important because they’ve worked hard for all that money and that’s why they really think about what stuff they are going to buy. It isn’t because they can’t afford the best smartphone or the best computer, they just don’t need it.
