Today there is not so much racism in Denmark, as there were 70 years back in the USA. However, the racism is still there, just not so brutal.

Beside Danes, there are immigrants from all over the world living in Denmark. A part of them lives peacefully, but what about the other immigrants. In 2013 there was around 456.000 immigrants living in Denmark. A third of them are from the western world, and the others are from the eastern world. When we speak about racism, we do not really speak about the immigrants from the west. How can that be? I think it is mostly about religion, and maybe a little bit about the look too.

Denmark is a Christian country and have been that for almost 1000 years now. People from the western are mostly Christian too, or Catholics, but they believe in the same God, and most of them have the same Christian traditions, like them we have in Denmark. However, people from the other side of the world, as the Middle East has another religion and a different culture, most them are Muslims and believe in Islam. The Islamic faith is very strong, and if you are a strong believer, there must be some rules you need to keep. Wearing a headscarf for example.
