In biotechnology today, we see a wide range of possibilities and maybe even a wider range of borders and limits. Strict rules are needed on new technologies, when we still not are able to control it completely. Some of these borders were made so we do not violate human rights, while others simply were made in order for us to keep in it the area where we can control it.

For every day that passes the biotechnology takes another step into our lives and the society we live in as a front figure of our knowledge and development. When looking on the subject “People and conflict”, there is two major areas in the biotechnology that is going to raise questions on this subject, which is stem cells and designer babies and what it will take to be called a human being and who will decide who is human and who is not. There are different opinions to these areas, and I will present my own views together with an explanation. I will start out with describing the problem in my assignment.

Problem formulation

At the present day, the gene technology is advancing extremely fast, and all those ethical norms we’ve established through time are being tested in all their aspects. The new biotechnologies are questioning what it really means to be human, because a new technology provides the possibility to create out own humans in laboratories through cell cloning. The theory in stem cells is that you extract premature cells from an embryo, since these cells are yet to evolve into anything. These certain cells can be stored, and used later to created new organs when combined with other cells. Stem cells works on everyone, so your stem cells can in theory create a brand new functioning heart to your neighbour.
