Going on a hunting trip can be difficult for a dysfunctional family, especially when intrigues arise between two alpha males. When a young boy travels with his father, whom is not only his true allied, but also his role model and hero, the expectations for the trip are huge. Their long-awaited pig-hunting trip takes a different turn, when there is an awful sound followed by a gunshot in the woods. Will this hunting trip be the reason for a possible development from boy to man in proportion to Mati?
The story of the 10-year-old Mati takes place in New Zealand. In the beginning of the story, we are located in Auckland, which is the biggest city in New Zealand. However, the main part of the story takes place in Opotiki, which on the other hand is a small town on the eastern bay. This radical change of scenery can be described as moving from civilization towards wilderness.
